What is the goal of a solar radiation?

The aim of a solar radiation is to gain knowledge about the resistance of a product exposed to direct sunlight.

These findings help to prevent color or product changes by allowing the manufacturer to react to the findings. Therefor this test contributes to improving the quality and durability of a product.

The translucence and color brilliance should be maintained, and the seals of the product should not dry out. A solar radiation verifies how resistant our customer's product is to combined UV and infrared radiation.

Under solar radiative influence, plastics, colors and surfaces can undergo changes that vary depending on the type of material and the duration of exposure. Possible effects are:

Plastics become brittle, which can lead to cracking and breakage, or color changes occur, causing plastics to fade or yellow.
Surfaces oxidize or their structural integrity is impaired, resulting in a loss of gloss or a change in texture.

What happens during a solar simulation?

PAConsult is able to simulate certain temperatures and different sun intensities depending on the time of day.

During the test, the specimen is exposed to thermal and radiation influences. The daily cycles and constant radiation loads can be freely selected by the customer.

This enables you to test your products under various climatic conditions relevant to you and ensure that they can withstand the demands of radiation influences.
