Incline Impact Test

What is the goal of an incline impact test?

The objective of an inclined plane test is to evaluate the load-bearing capacity of a transport pallet under realistic conditions.

The objective is to document the stability and durability of a transport pallet through incline plane impact tests, and to determine if this packaging system meets the required standards and can withstand the stresses of a real shipping scenario.

This test thus serves to check and confirm the quality and reliability of transport pallets with regard to the requirements of the logistics process.

What happens during an incline impact test?

On the inclined plane, shocks or mechanical shocks, such as those that can occur on a loading area and during improper handling with industrial trucks, are simulated on packaging systems such as transport pallets or transport crates.

They serve to identify potential damage that could be caused by slipping and impact. In particular, aspects of load distribution, stackability, and securing against unintentional slippage are examined.

In this test procedure, several runs are performed, one run per surface area. During each run, impact velocity measurements, typically in the range of 1 to 2 m/s, are taken. These velocity measurements are intended to ensure that the test complies with applicable standards. The impact velocities are monitored during each test run to ensure the consistency and reproducibility of the test.

In which areas are incline impact tests used?

At PAConsult, incline plane tests are primarily used for the transport sector. This is an important test to ensure the stability of packaging during the transport process. In the transport sector, they allow for the evaluation of packaging tilt.

Furthermore, the inclined plane test also plays a crucial role in other areas, including the automotive and aerospace industries. The safe transport of vehicle or aircraft components and equipment at various inclines is simulated and ensured. The construction industry can also find the test relevant for verifying the integrity of building materials and elements during transport.

Thus, the inclined plane test proves to be an important tool for ensuring the reliability and integrity of various products across different industries.
