What is ISTA 6?
ISTA 6 is a packaging test standard of the International Safe Transit Association (ISTA). It is the standard prescribed by Amazon for certified shipping packaging.
Wichtiges Update: Seit dem 1. August 2026 ist die neue ISTA 6 – Amazon Revision 2026 offiziell in Kraft und löst die alte Version von 2018 ab. Für alle neuen Produktregistrierungen akzeptiert Amazon ab sofort ausschließlich Testberichte nach dem neuen 2026-Protokoll.
ISTA 6 tests simulate realistic transport situations - including shock, vibration, pressure and drops that can occur in the supply chain. This ensures that products reach customers safely and undamaged.
FFP, SIOC, and PFP
The Amazon Certification Program distinguishes between three certification levels:
- Stufe 1: Frustration Free Packaging (FFP)
- Stufe 2: Ships in Own Container (SIOC)
- Stufe 3: Prep-Free Packaging
FFP – Frustration-Free Packaging

SIOC – Ships In Own Container
Versand: In der eigenen Verpackung, ohne zusätzliche Amazon-Umverpackung

- Packaging must be stable and ready for shipping.

PFP – Prep-Free Packaging
Versand: Mit Amazon-Umkarton (Over-Boxing), aber ohne manuelle Vorbereitung im Logistikzentrum
Voraussetzungen (aktualisiert nach Revision 2026):
- Amazon-compliant packaging
- No additional preparation in the warehouse
- NEU im Testverfahren: Das Laborprüfverfahren spiegelt nun exakt die realen Bedingungen der Amazon-Packstationen wider. Als Füllmaterial im Test-Umkarton ist ausschließlich Kraftpapier zugelassen (Luftpolsterfolie entfällt komplett). Zudem gelten neue Over-Box-Größen basierend auf aktuellen Bestelldaten sowie eine verschärfte Multi-Produkt-Methodik für Sendungen mit mehreren Produkten oder Gefahrgütern im selben Karton.
